Joe Wilson Draws the Curtain Back: Obama the Wizard of Oz? Uh -- NOT
A brilliant piece.
A scary piece.
It makes Obama look not merely inexperienced, but stupid.
Joe Wilson's column is really bizarre if you think about it. Most of us in the anti-war movement already knew that the "intelligence" was made up at the time Clinton voted for the war. The Downing Street Memos proved for once and for all that we were correct.
Is he suggesting she really was too stupid to figure out that the Bush regime was lying when tens of millions of Americans were smart enough to catch on?
In the real world, Clinton's vote was made on a political calculation, not on genuine foreign policy considerations.
I was involved in that debate in every step of the effort to prevent this senseless war and I profoundly resent Obama's distortion of George Bush's folly into Hillary Clinton's responsibility.
I was in the middle of the debate in Washington. Obama wasn't there. I remember what was said and done.
In fact, the administration lied in order to secure support for its war of choice, including cooking the intelligence and misleading Congress about the intent of the authorization.
Senator Clinton's position, stated in her floor speech, was in favor of allowing the United Nations weapons inspectors to complete their mission and to build a broad international coalition.
I just came to say hi...saw you stopped over...hey I know we are on different sides of this...BUT I just wanted to share with you I went canvassing this weekend...and guess HOW many McPain Supporters I met....

Read it more carefully. In the context of what Wilson actually said, it is your comment that seems off-base.

Bush rejected her path. It was his war of choice.
