Rove, POW John Pander to POWs -- One Giant Snark-Step Onward for All Vagino-Americans!

I noticed earlier that Karl "Miss Piggy" Rove, unlike his tone-deaf Democratic party counterparts, was oddly attuned and aware of the karma-cause-&-effect thing re: POWs, as in Pissed-Off Women Democrats (a group of which I am, and continue to be, a proud example).

That's why Rove's "Why Not Hillary?" ad was so effective. And, at least to me, unexpected.

As in, oh, what, someone's paying attention?

And that someone would be -- Karl Rove? Ouch!

I think it is a very pleasant thing that John McCain has picked his VP according to her genitalia. I mean, why not?

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in various alienated sections of vagino-american blogtopia, a section of blogtopia whose spontaneous-arising I joined in, cheering.

Moi, I think it may actually piss off the people who are already actually and very reasonably pissed off, even more. (And if it doesn't, it should).

But it may surprise Miss Piggy by pissing them off in sort of a different, and perhaps 180 degree anti-pandering direction. Possibly inspiring some deep revulsion. (And don't forget Palin's being a card-carrying Feminist For Government-Forced Maternity [coughchokecough]).

I for one certainly am finding McCain's choice of Sarah Palin particularly, unconscionably, despicably, almost deliciously repellent.

Am I alone in this? I think not.

We shall see.

But from where I am, this pick is vilely sexist, and a hideous insult to all women.

Hat tip to Jesus' General, a little something about what Sarah Palin may be doing in addition to so cleverly possessing the requisite vagina.

I'm guessing Cindy is having a fit, she's seen this before--hell, she's done this before--I'm not impugning the young lady from AK, but the good senaturd and his current moneyspigot.

There is that, of course. ; )

Whoa, welcome, fellow other anonymous poster. :)

It's just like with Obama, right, they'll be all upset because McCain didn't pick Hillary? ;)

Still, I have to say I'm surprised; either way, for the first time, the ticket won't be all white guys. As a white guy, I think that's progress--and after all, I wouldn't want the job!

I'm thinking, "Oh my god, is he serious?" Was he this desperate? I mean, does he really think Hillary voters are this fucking stupid? Sarah Palin is a corrupt, reactionary, inexperienced hack, and does not deserve to even be mentioned in the same breath as Hillary.

Hillary worked so hard to get the nomination, and now, to quote TruthMatters of MyDD, Palin could steal her legacy simply because McCain picked her based on her anatomy.

No way. I'm smarter than that. I hope the rest of us are too.

It's going to be our fault, you know.

Obama offered us the plastic olive branch of subjugation posing as unity (as his dogs continued to refer to us as harridans, bitches, whores, eunuchs, monsters, and a few other obscene insults)--and we didn't take it!!

Ronpaulisoverrated: Some of us may be smarter than that. But fauxgressives didn't exactly base their allegiance to Obama so much on research of his record as his Not Being Hillary.

Given a decision to make between Clean-Looking Black Guy!! and Non-Clinton Vagina!!, some fauxgressives might collectively crap their pants so hard they can't make it to the voting booth.

One does love you, billy. One really does. ; )

How is it repellent? I'm not a McCain supporter, but people always pick VP based on either buttressing some perceived lack in the top of the ticket, trying to bring a state or two on board because of the VP's background, appealing to a particular constituency, etc. It's rarely substantive reasons, other than maybe the first one I mentioned.

This woman is almost out of central casting, she's such a good pick - frankly for all these reasons and more. She's tough, eloquent, clean background, appeals to the republicans conservative base, has a native-american, mostly stay-at-home dad (so appeals to suburban independent moms), is a governor (always a plus) and has a really interesting, impressive background and life story. The fact that she's also a woman - sure - is a stick in the eye to Obama (but that's Obama's fault) and is a help to appeal to disaffected dem and independent woman. That's called good politics. I certainly am not insulted by it even if it doesn't make me vote for McCain.

By the way - Palin has as much if not more and more impressive govt and life experience than Tom Kaine and no one said anything about "lack of experience" or "pandering to Virginians" when he was considered to be a serious contender.

Another great misogynistic meme developing in the progressive blogosphere - just what Obama needs!

Are you kidding? You're criticizing me for criticizing McCain's pick?

And saying I'm hurting Obama?

BWA HA HAHA HAHAHAHAHAH.

Never mind.

I think that Rove's stupid comment a week or so back about 'intensely political choices' for the Veep is very appropriate here. Rove just got the party wrong. ;-)

No Blood for Hubris said...

You said it, Kvatch. ; )

No, hubris - I'm not kidding. And, I'm saying you're hurting Obama not because of the mere fact that you criticize McCain's choice - it's how and why you are doing it. Picking a woman is vilely sexist and a hideous insult to women???? Whaaaa? I can be against Palin on almost every substantive policy, but still recognize that she is impressive for everything she's done in her 44 years.

So, sure - take her on on substance. But I would concede - if I were a smart democratic operative or commentator - at this point that she's at least as impressive as most of the other male VP republican contendors. That doesn't restrict substantive criticism. But acting like the ONLY reason McCain could have chosen her at all is because she has a vagina is the thing that's a hideous insult to women.

I know this much is true:

The GOP is paying more attention to the disgruntled parts of the Democratic base than the Democratic Party is.

And that's just sad.

Run_dmc, two x chromosomes alone do not qualify one as a serious candidate....and the post is right on about how repellant and cynical this is.

This is a most unserious choice, and is an insult to the millions of people who voted for Hillary because of her intelligence and politics, not because of her vagina.

No Blood for Hubris said...

Dear run-dmc

I'm afraid you do not know the least thing about hideous insults to women, sweetie.

And VastLeft is, of course, right. As he always is.

However, I do think that Miss Piggy overplayed his hand on this one, at least judging from comments on the NY Times website, which seem to reflect my own take on this really vile, insulting, overtly shamelessly sexist decision.

Anonymous said...

Right on the money, jane2. Make no mistake; it was because of Hillary's hard work and accomplishments that Palin got picked.

And hubris, are you ever going to stop saying "sweetie"?

No Blood for Hubris said...

Mmm -- no, probably not. Probably not until you start to understand why I've been calling you "sweetie," sweetie.

No doubt one of the other commenters can enlighten you on this subject, since I seem to have failed completely in this respect.

; )

Anonymous said...

wow - calling me "sweetie" and then saying, without any evidence, that i don't know the least thing about hideous insults to women? I could be a rape victim. I could be an abuse victim. That's the type of extraordinarily dismissive thing I would expect from someone who wants to not engage in substantive debate about issues but engage in the politics of "you don't know what you are talking about because you don't have right genitalia or skin color"

Wow

I don't believe I've said anything that is not respectful or worthy of engaging in substantive debate. But, I do believe that there is a way to look at McCain's pick of a VP and it is NOT to attack her being a woman. It is on sustance. She has issues that democrats can take her on, but to say that we should take her on because McCain picked her as a woman is insanely stupid. And, I stand by that - as a woman, and as an african american woman.

THANK YOU, run_dmc. Thank you for saying what I didn't have the guts to say.

Seriously hubris, it is YOU who needs to be enlightened. I know damn well why you keep saying "sweetie". You're pushing the myth that Obama is a sexist. But you desperately need to stop. It's not accomplishing anything. It's not doing you any favors. It's making you look just as bad as McCain, because you're playing on peoples' bitterness and frustration.

BillyWitchDoctor said...

...Now who's bitter? I swear to God. You Obots GOT YOUR VICTORY, yet you're still compelled to run around, hunting down and shouting down all who dare not genuflect in the presence of The One.

Could it be something besides bitterness? Fear, perhaps? Like the pants-wetting fear that the Clintons would upstage The One and Mrs. One at the convention, which led so many Obots to keep raving at them all week long?

For run_dmc ("My dog could have been run over! My ass could be HUGE! My parents could have been murdered by a sweetie! You don't know!!") and ronpaulisoverrated ("NO U" is always a brilliant argument), I leave a couple of links regarding McSame's veep choice, and the Randi Rhodes-grade preposterously-sexist reaction from the "progressiver-than-thous:"

I Knew It!

Avoiding the McCain-Palin Trap

Bear in mind I'm doin' you a favor here, enlightenment-wise--though of course it's always someone else who needs that, right?

Oh, and because it's so relevant when dealing with Obots, a cartoon:

Never Having To Say You're Sorry

This is a blog. No one "desperately needs to stop" anything; you are here by choice and free to leave at will. Can you say the same about your cult?

What some people "need" to do is understand where that "bitterness and frustration" comes from (without, say, assigning it to Typical White People's Syndrome).

NOTE: Don't forget to write-in your alternative in November, folks! The fauxgressives did it in 2000 and 2004, and remain proud of the results to this very day. They didn't give a crap about the consequences then, and they were ready to do it again back when Hillary seemed "inevitable." If it's good enough for those hypocritical little piss-ants, isn't it good enough for you?

No Blood for Hubris said...

Run-DMC:

Apparently you missed the little note right at the side of the blog, so I will hip you to it:

"This blog frequently and deliberately uses vile sexist language in order more clearly to demonstrate its ubiquity and unacceptability, so don't get your big-girl panties in a twist about it, sweetie. ;) "

No Blood for Hubris said...

My bad. The previous comment was meant for ronpaul.

And, run-dmc, you might want to swing toward the right column to see what credentials I have in some of the areas in which you seem to be trying to enlighten me, e.g., domestic abuse, rape crisis, etc. K?

And -- I'm not criticizing Palin for being Palin, I am criticizing McCain for having picked his VP not for her professional qualifications, but for her gender.

No Blood for Hubris said...

Her gender and her babe-itude, I should say.

Hey NBFH...Many thanks for the link, but just a tiny correction: 'McCain picks a chick!' was the Frogette's post.

No Blood for Hubris said...

Oops! My bad!

Frogette said...

Hey NBFH thanks for the shout out. All I can say about this is that his picking Palin isn't going to cause me to cross over and vote for him. I have nothing in common with that woman other than a couple of X chromosomes.

Yep.
