Can I just say that this woman does not look newly post-partum?
I'm tryin', NBFH, I'm tryin'. But this trophy veep stuff just doesn't sit well with me.
I'm so disappointed with the way Democrats have taken their eye off the ball on the issues, and the fish rots from the post-partisanship down, perhaps you'll still agree.
Words matter, and words that took partisan progressivism off the table have led us astray from a substantive repudiation of a party that most Americans finally and deservedly disrespect. And fighting class wars and indulging in gender-based (along with age-based) trivialization just doesn't ennoble our cause.
My read is that there has been so much weak-tea served by Dems since the convention that no one is going to pay attention to the strong stuff.
I know your heart's in the right place, but the fact is we don't know all that much about Palin yet, and hyped and gender-based issues are ensuring that no one who might stand to be convinced will be.
I want to be well-schooled in legit Palin oppo, but there's a lot of wolf-crying (no wolves were shot from helicopters during that metaphor) out there, and the Vogue Photoshop, to me, undercuts the sense that the linky goodness will in fact lead to unvarnished truth, which has been in dangerously short supply of late, even when it comes to criticisms of the party I despise.

How we deal with that in limited time is something of a test and a trap.

Palin is Rorschach for:
a. vapid sex object
AND
b. apple-pie-motherhood beyond criticism
AND
c. annywun kin b preznit
AND
d. book-burning Talibangelical Dominionism
You have read Limbaugh on Palin being a "babe," have you not?
This nomination sets women back, not forward. It's an insult.
I go with (c) and am waiting to see a better case re: (d).
Of course (d) would go down a little easier if the Dems weren't running a candidate who says that faith-based groups "will help set our national agenda."
You can have my proxy on whether it's an insult or a forward movement, but I will say that it's striking that the GOP took notice of disgruntled Democrats while the Democratic establishment is resolute in refusing to listen to same.
BTW, thanks for swapping out the graphic. Maybe it's just me, but I felt a whole lot better about following the links.
I hope you'll agree that a lot of the Dem oppo since the convention has been pathetic (trivial, wrongheaded, etc.), and it's making it hard to separate wheat from chaff.
The Howler is, as always, doing an incomparable job of sorting them out.

I just don't really think of Sarah Palin as a woman. I think of her as a lying, conniving, scumbag. I mean, yeah, I certainly KNOW she's a woman, but it's not her being a female that makes me despise her.
